Zirconium is an efficient auxiliary drier used in coating media to boost the performance of paints and varnishes. It can replace lead when it is used with cerium or calcium. Zirconium shows good gloss and color retention and improves hardness and adhesion. It is used in combination with cobalt and cerium to reduce yellowing tendency in white paints.
