Zinc octoate is an efficient dispersing agent. It reduces the absorbing tendency of pigments such as titanium dioxide and carbon black. It retains the drying capacity and prevents the film from webbing and frosting. The use of zinc is not recommended with dehydrated castor oil media and tung oil media as it may produce bloom and reduction of gloss.
